DEADMAU5

In this world of ever evolving genres, sounds and trends, the word phenomenon is rarely if ever used, unless of course you are one of the hottest talents in the world of electronic music. His name may conjure up images of a lifeless rodent, but the Canadian born self- confessed techno geek otherwise known as deadmau5 (pronounced ‘dead mouse’) punches like a heavyweight. On September 22, the Grammy-nominated, JUNO Award-winning electronic music sensation who has racked up more than 5,000,000 hits on MySpace unleashed his second album for ULTRA Records–titled FOR LACK OF A BETTER NAME. deadmau5—born Joel Zimmerman–is a new breed of electronic dance music star. He has managed to break rank in an industry where most of the major players have at least a decade (sometimes two) of stardom behind them. Having had a meteoric rise in the last 18 months, he has gone from near obscurity to becoming an in demand producer, innovative electronic live performer and the No. 1 selling artist on Beatport (the world’s leading online dance music store).
