Lady GaGa Scores Euro Chart Double

Lady GaGa is No. 1 on the European Top 100 Albums and European Hot 100 Singles charts this week.

Patience is a virtue for Lady Gaga, who completes her Europe-wide conquest by hitting the top of European Top 100 Albums for the first time with”The Fame”Interscope/Universal after five weeks at No. 2. “Poker Face” starts a ninth week at No. 1 on European Hot 100 Singles.

Lady Gaga’s album has taken 13 weeks to reach the pan-European summit, and takes the lead in its eighth straight week in the top three. It’s in a third week at No. 1 in the United Kingdom, where sales to last weekend had reached 362,000. “The Fame” also moves 2-1 in Ireland, 4-3 in Switzerland and holds at No. 5 in Germany and Finland.

Gaga thus ends U2′s six-week European reign with “No Line on the Horizon” (Mercury/Universal), which falls to No. 2 despite climbs of 3-2 in Holland, 7-3 in Denmark and 8-7 in Germany. It’s also steady at No. 3 in Poland but down 2-4 in Hungary, 3-4 in Portugal, 4-5 in Italy and 7-10 in France.

Kings of Leon’s “Only By The Night” (Hand Me Down/Sony Music Entertainment) moves back up 4-3 to change places with Diana Krall’s “Quiet Nights” (Verve/Universal) on the composite chart. “Night” sells another 19,000 in the United Kingdom to return 3-2 there. Krall rises 3-1 in Hungary, 2-1 in Poland, registers a No. 6 debut in Greece and holds at No. 2 in Portugal, but is down 3-6 in France.

“Nichts Passiert” (Columbia/Sony Music Entertainment) moves back 7-5 on Top 100 Albums for Silbermond. That’s after it returned 3-1 in Germany, where the single “Irgendwas Bleibt” is steady at No. 5. Leonard Cohen’s “Live In London” (Columbia/Sony Music Entertainment) is proving a steady seller, logging a third straight week at No. 6 after a 10-7 rise in Poland and gentle descents of 4-5 in Denmark and the Belgian region of Flanders.

In its 22nd chart frame, Beyoncé’s “I Am… Sasha Fierce” (Columbia/Sony Music Entertainment) is back into the pan-European top ten, which it last visited two months ago. A 15-7 climb is fuelled by climbs of 9-2 in Norway, 5-3 in Ireland and 10-7 in the United Kingdom, where current single “Halo” is up 7-6. That song stays at No. 6 on the European Hot 100, also rising 9-8 in Germany. Beyoncé’s six-week European tour begins Sunday (April 26) in Zagreb, Croatia, and will visit 15 countries, culminating in two O2 Arena shows in London June 8-9.

Amy Macdonald spends another week at No. 8 on Top 100 Albums with “This Is The Life” (Mercury/Universal), while Peter Fox clmbs back 14-9 with “Stadtaffe” (Downbeat/Warner Music) after a 4-2 revival in Germany. Jazzman Roger Cicer’s “Artgerecht” (Starwatch), which came in at No. 9 overall last week, is down one spot after slipping 2-3 in his native Germany. Just outside the aggregate top ten, longtime favorite U.K. AC artist Chris De Burgh makes an 81-11 leap with the covers set “Footsteps” (UMTV), after it sold 16,000 for a local debut at No. 4.

On the Eurochart, “Poker Face” loses top spot in Holland, Finland and Wallony, but retains it in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Flanders, to stay ahead of Flo-Rida’s “Right Round” (Atlantic/Warner Music), at No. 2 for a sixth week.

Lady GaGa shocked by signing

lgLady GaGa was left red-faced when a male fan asked her to sign his genitals.

The ‘Poker Face’ singer was lost for words when the cheeky admirer made the X-rated request after she had performed a show in Canada.

She said: “I feel embarrassed saying this but the strangest thing I ever autographed was a man’s penis.

“I was doing a meet and greet backstage in Canada. I had enough room to write Lady GaGa but I don’t really remember. I was laughing so hard I could barely breathe. Maybe it is still there – who knows? It was a permanent marker too!”

The 22-year-old star recently admitted she isn’t keen when the opposite sex approach her and try and flirt.

She is quoted as saying: “I don’t give them a chance to even try a chat-up line. I give them a good, firm, ‘No!’ before they even speak. I find that does the trick every time.”
